Events Collection

 Collection
Identifier: RG-03 -05-02

Content Description

The collection consists of photographs, contacts sheets, dvds and printed collateral announcing events at the Law School. Because the departments of Communications and Events work closely together, there is significant overlap in their work. Basically Communiations photographs the events and creates the printed collaterol to advertise the events. Additionally, as in Alumni Gatherings and reunions, the Alumni Association is involved in the event as well. Many events also involve Law Review, Student Organizations and the office of the Dean. Events coordinates the actual event on campus or in the off-campus location.

So, often many departments are working together on an event. Because these materials were transferred from the Events department, they are part of that department's collection. Much of this material will also be found in the pertinent Law Review or other conference or symposium series, such as Day Pitney Scholars and Gallivan Conference.

For ease of access and because events are often asked for individually not by sponsor this collection has been maintained separately. unicorn

Abstract

This collection contains pamphlets, brochures, fliers, correspondence, invitations, emails, photographs, negatives, contact sheets and slides. Materials were collected over several years and the collection was partially organized in the early 2010s. More material was found later and added to the collection. Contents include informaiton on symposiums held at the law school, gues speakers, visitors, law review activities, and student, faculty and staff events. Material is added as it becomes available.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged in chronological order. The collection came to the Archives in several accessions and portions were processed out of order. The collection is added to as more material comes to the Archives.

Custodial History

The collection arrived in the Archives over several years in multiple accessions. Only the 2025 accession of four large white 3-ring binders was recorded as an accession; other portions were tranferred pre-2022. Accession 2025-10 was transferred to the Archives during an office move of the Communications staff in December 2025. An existing and processed collection of materials from Communications compliments this collection. The two were combined rather than creating duplicate, conconcurrent collections. The Department of Communications boxes came in two accessions from pre 2022 and 2025 (accession 2025-001) when the Director of Communications retired. These Department of Communication materials consiste of contact sheets and dvds containing photographs of specific events. They were individually folder in archival hanging file folders with sticky notes as folder identifiers. Materials from the two 2025 accessions were interfiled when a corresponding file was located, or foldered in a new folder using archival manila folders. Files from these accession for the year 2010-2025 do not contain photographs; they consist of postcards, flyers, programs and other published items.

Material transferred to the Archives pre-2022 include binders of photographs from 2010-2011 and binders of emails, announcements and brochures from 1961-2017. These binders have been processed as is and are in a series named Old Binder Collection.

Accruals

Regular accruals expected as materials come to the Archives or are collected by the Archives staff.
