Biographical / Historical

Former law professor, William F. Starr (1935-1962), published a newsletter for the Alumni Association known as the News Bulletin from January 1944-February 1960. The News Bulletin changed its name to the The Starr Report in April 1961 and published until the Summer of 1990. It was published jointly by the Student Bar Association and the Alumni Association. In 1968 The Starr Report divided. The name Starr Report stayed with the Alumni Association and the student newspaper was named the Legal Realist.

The Alumni Association also sponsored a continuing legal education initiative via the Annual Survey of Connecticut Law. This compilation of the previous year's recent law and legislation was designed to provide lawyers, who did not have time to read all recent cases and legislation, a method to learn of the important changes in the field over that particular year (see Starr Report, November 1965, p. 1).
